Bird Watching at the Bottom of the Grand Canyon

Flagstaff, AZ -- Just returned from the inner sanctum of mother earth: The Grand Canyon. I was surprised to see so much wildlife: Great Blue Herons galore, Desert Bighorn Sheep and the endangered, but ugly, Humpback Chub. On our 7-day Grand Canyon river rafting adventure we did see a diving loon-like bird that no one could identify. So I dug up this Grand Canyon bird checklist from the NPS:

If anyone can name that white and reddish-brown diving bird, please leave a comment! Thanks to our great Canyoneers all-women's crew and guests! We all had an outstanding outdoors adventure.
